WYNN AL MARJAN

RAS AL KHAIMAH, UAE — EDSA, INC.

The Wynn Al Marjan, located on a man-made island in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, is currently undergoing construction and scheduled to open in early 2027. The landscape design draws strong inspiration from Wynn’s signature aesthetic, blending classical European elegance, luxury and modern design influences with

timeless French garden design. I joined this project during the schematic design phase and have been primarily working on it for the last two years, contributing to various design and production development as well as construction detailing. We are currently working on the construction administration phase.

SPINE ROAD DESIGN WORK

The following diagrams and images represent quick design exercises of the roundabouts and bike rest stops along the hotel spine road developed for client approval.

I created Rhino models of each element and brought them into Lumion for in-house renders. After receiving feedback, the designs were approved and later professionally rendered.

Roundabout Designs:

The design for the roundabouts draw inspiration from Wynn’s distinctive style, featuring vibrant, manicured flower beds, structured hedges and sculpted topiary forms. Additionally, these designs contribute to an overall cohesive and holistic site aesthetic.

The design of the bike rest stops reflect aspects of the beautiful glass roof structures found throughout the main Wynn hotel. With the desire to create a shaded yet open-air experience, this

structure accomplishes this balance and is buffered by a perimeter of lush vegetation. These rest stops also provide phone charging outlets, water, bike racks and a repair station.

SPINE ROAD PLANTING DESIGN

Through sketching and modeling, I designed a planting plan for a portion of the spine road that was applied across the entire public realm leading up to the hotel.

The images below show the original sketch of the planting design, a quick study model to visualize the design in 3D as well as the final documentation in CAD.

Typical Road Condition & Section

This planting design was later taken into Lumion to produce supporting vignettes and sections showcasing the R.O.W. limits, utility locations, differing lane conditions and planting character.

These illustrations helped provide a visual representation of both the technical constraints and the aesthetic vision of the planting to communicate to the client.
